Parent Drug Testing offers Urine testing as well as many other specimen types. Urine testing allows for detection of recent use, typically in the previous one to three days, however, longer detection times is normal for chronic marijuana smokers. 

Parents can use urine drug testing  that is cost-effectiveness and has the capacity to screen for a wide variety of drug substances.

Advantages of Urine Testing 
  • Urine testing is the most common screening method and can detect recent use with the exception of chronic marijuana abuse (up to 30 days use)
  • Urine testing can detect large menu of illicit and prescription drugs.
  • A positive test has become the standard for recent use with the Department of Labor.
  • Today it is the only testing method approved for DOT Testing.  Oral Fluids and Hair testing is expected to be approved in 2020 or 2021.
  • Urine Test, especially urine based, have a track record of reliable testing results.
  • Negative results are available in 24 hours and positives within 48-72 hours.
Disadvantages of Urine Testing 
  • Donor Cheating is perceived to be a huge issue with urine testing. Urine drug screen collectors commonly find donors who are adding substances to urine collection containers and attempting to substitute drug screens with devices advertised on the internet.
  • Only finds recent use and won't identify patterns or history of drug use.
  • Degradation of urine sample over time due to humidity and heat.  Samples are not as easily collected, stored and shipped as some alternative methods.
  • Many consider urine as a invasive collection method when compared to some of the other less invasive methods.
